Our 12 week rotating schedule is published yearly. There are those on staff who prefer working days vs. nights and trade those shifts out for the whole year. The ability to make these trades benefits all parties and was a huge benefit we enjoyed via Nimble Schedule as the responsibility to trade fell on the requesting party. With the 45 day limitation, the workload for our admin would increase tenfold.
Why should we implement this
It allows staff to trade/swap for the whole year, will clear indications on who is responsible for shift (done automatically with agreement to trade). It keeps the workload within the workgroup and does not fall on the lap of our admin staff. Allowing staff the freedom to trade does not require additional email chains showing requested trades/swaps necessary to "track changes" and/or "scheduler approval" of trade/swap.
